Until you reach us

What to do right now

Toothache

Rinse your mouth with warm water and gently floss to remove anything stuck between the teeth. A cold compress on the cheek can ease pain. Do not place aspirin directly on the gum.

Broken or chipped tooth

Rinse with warm water and apply a cold compress to reduce swelling. Keep any piece of the tooth that you can find and bring it with you.

Knocked-out tooth

Time matters, so call us right away. Hold the tooth by the crown, not the root, and rinse it gently without scrubbing. If you can, place it back in the socket; otherwise keep it in milk. Come in as soon as possible.

Lost filling, crown or bridge

Keep the piece and bring it with you. Do not use household glue. Call us to be seen.

Serious symptoms

When to go to the emergency room

Go to the nearest emergency room or call 911 if you have swelling that spreads to the face, eye or neck, trouble breathing or swallowing, a fever with facial swelling, bleeding that will not stop, or an injury to the head or jaw. Dental pain alone, without these signs, is something to call us about.
